Siouxland Trails Map - 2nd Edition Now
Complete
The bad news is that the 3600 first editions of the Siouxland
Trails Map are now out of date. The good news is that 5,000 copies of the
2nd edition have been printed and are being distributed. Local bicycle
shops, parks and rec departments, the Lewis and Clark Center, and Sgt Floyd
Welcome Center all have the new map available FREE. The new map is
available by link on this website and you can request a copy by mail by
sending a self addressed stamped envelope to - Siouxland Trails Foundation,
PO Box 752, Sioux City IA 51102.
The map was made possible by a generous
donation from Missouri River Historical Development (MRHD) and technical
assistance from SIMPCO. Foundation board member, Gina Sypersma, acted as Map
Chair
This spring outdoor displays of the map will be
added along the Sioux City riverfront."
Siouxland Trails Foundation Takes Lead Role in Bridge Fundraising
Siouxland Trails Foundation is working with the City of Sioux City and
Dakota Dunes Community Improvement District in the development of a
recreation trail bridge between Riverside Park in Sioux City and the Two
Rivers Office Park and Country Club in Dakota Dunes.
The new trail bridge will be constructed adjacent to the Interstate 29 bridges over
the Big Sioux River on the upstream side. The estimated cost of the 450'
bridge is $500,000. The State of Iowa, City of Sioux City and Dakota
Dunes Community Improvement District have committed $300,000 to the
project leaving $200,000 to be raised privately. Our task is to help
coordinate raising that $200,000.
The Foundation has pledged $25,000 from funds raised in the annual
Tri-State Trails Tour rides. We are well under way in raising the
balance needed, but need the help of all area trail enthusiasts. Your
financial support at any level will really help us meet the goal. You
can send your checks to:

On the
Trails & Maps page is where you will find the Siouxland Trails Map, made possible through a grant from the
Missouri River Historical Development (MRHD) and a collaboration between Siouxland Trails Foundation and
Siouxland Interstate Metropolitan Planning Council (SIMPCO).
There is, of course, much more work to be done! The area trails can benefit from YOUR investment. See how you can join our efforts at
Donations.
