TRI-STATE TRAILS TOUR VII – AL BENGTSON MEMORIAL BICYCLE RIDE – MAY 14, 2011

“Tri-State Trails Tour VII will happen on Saturday, May 14th beginning at the Marina Center (across the parking lot from the Marina Inn) – An optional pancake breakfast will be available starting at 8:00 AM and same day registration will start at 8:30 AM with a mass ride start at 10:00 AM. This year’s ride has been designated the Al Bengtson
Memorial Ride. Al lost a long battle with cancer this past winter. Al was a long time South Sioux City Councilman and a champion of the South Sioux City trail system which is named in his honor as well as a leader in getting the community of South Sioux City designated nationally as a ‘Bicycle Friendly Community”.
Because of construction closing the key trail link to South Dakota on the Iowa side, the 2011 ‘official’ route will all be in Nebraska – The ride features approximately 22 miles of trail (with only a few blocks of streets) in South Sioux City and Dakota City. Riders desiring longer distance can add the nicely shouldered highway ride to Homer, Nebraska for an additional 17 miles, or cross the Missouri River and explore the Iowa side of the river. During the ride hours our SAG support will pick up riders anyplace in the greater Sioux City metro area (including the road to Homer) needing assistance.
On the official ride route, riders can explore the brand new All American Trail and completely circle South Sioux City.
The 2011 route is all flat and very child/family friendly. Parents or guardians do need to sign the waiver for their children.
Helmets are required of all riders.
The Tri-State Trails Tour is a fund raiser for Siouxland Trails Foundation – All net proceeds are used to improve local trails - some of our projects include purchasing trail maintenance equipment, purchasing trail signage. Printing the free Siouxland Trails Map, and raising the private money needed in order to equip the local bus fleet with bicycle racks. The costs for the ride remain the same:
Ride Only:
$8.00 Single Rider Early Bird rate- Registration must be received by April 30th.

Siouxland Trails Foundation is hosting
its sixth annual Tri-State Trails Tour Bicycle ride on Saturday May 16, 2009,
starting at 10 am with registration beginning at 8 am. The ride will once again
begin at the Marina Center which is across the parking lot from the Marina Inn
in South Sioux City, NE (right on the trail!). There will be a mass start and
riders can choose from a variety of route options up to 57 miles. There is no
required minimum distance.
Riders have the unique opportunity of riding in 3 states in one short day.
Portions of the ride include trails along the banks of the Missouri and Big
Sioux Rivers, around a lake, and through several city parks and one state
preserve and you get to cross the both rivers.
The Tri-state Trails Tour is a family-friendly ride, and because of our generous
sponsors, proceeds from the ride will go toward the development and promotion of
the recreational trail system in Siouxland.
Pre-registration is strongly encouraged and is required to assure availability
of the T-shirt option. NEW THIS YEAR IS A PRE-RIDE PANCAKE BREAKFAST! Pancakes,
sausage, and juice will be offered for $4 beginning at 8 am and continuing until
ride time. Other ride amenities include SAG service if needed, free refreshments
at rest stops, free Siouxland Trail Maps, and availability of post ride showers.

coming in from outside the area. Ask for the "Trail Tour" rate at 402-494-4000.

fee are deductible to the extent allowed by law. There is a line on the
registration form that can be used for contributions.

the pancake breakfast option only. Also, note that we do offer a special 'Family

with the community's support, we anticipate raising a substantial sum for the
development and improvement of local trails. The Foundation looks forward to
